5 Simple Ways to Build Confidence From the Inside Out

Confidence is something I’ve struggled with for a long time.
According to Vocabulary.com, confidence is “a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.”
In other words, confidence is believing in yourself, who you are, and what you are capable of accomplishing.
But don’t get it twisted, confidence is different from self-esteem. Self-esteem is how much you value yourself; confidence is how much you trust yourself.
With that said, it’s absolutely possible to have confidence and still struggle with low self-esteem. Isn’t that wild?
In short, confidence is doing things that help you build more trust in yourself
If you’ve been struggling to believe in yourself, here are five simple ways to start building your confidence from the inside out.
If you’ve been struggling to believe in yourself, don’t worry too much about it. The journey, although long and sometimes uncomfortable, is doable.
At this time, let’s get into the 5 ways to start building your self-trust.
- Do what you say you’re going to do. Stop trying to be Elastigirl, doing everything for everyone and overstretching yourself. Be realistic about your obligations, and keep your word to yourself. Every time you follow through, even on the small things, you prove to yourself that you’re reliable. That’s where the real confidence starts.
- Dress the part. Do you want to be that girl? Picture her clearly: who is she? How does she walk? How does she dress and carry herself? With that picture in mind, start showing up as her now. The more you see her come alive through you, the more you’ll believe she’s already you.
- Try something new. Every day, I’m learning that growth and confidence live outside my comfort zone. Whether it’s taking a class, applying for that job, or trying a new hairstyle, each new experience reminds you that you can handle more than you think.
- Do the scary thing. You’ll see that the moment you act, it doesn’t seem so scary after all. Every time you push past your fears, you teach your brain that you’re courageous and fear can’t stand in your way.
- Pour into yourself. I’ve entered my self-care era for real. I love doing my skincare routine and spraying myself with perfume just to go to bed. These little ways I’ve been loving myself help me feel more grounded.
So take time to refill your cup: journal, take a slow shower with soothing music, read something inspiring, light a candle, and just breathe. You deserve your own care and attention.
So, on the days you feel frustrated or uncertain, remember that confidence isn’t something you find; it’s something you build. Brick by brick, step by step, little by little. Every small promise kept, every risk taken, every act of self-love adds up. You’re already doing better than you think.
Even though you won’t become that girl overnight, every time you choose yourself, you’re one step closer to her.
Start today. One action at a time, one brave choice at a time.
Confidence isn’t arrogance; it’s an agreement with who God says you are
You’ve got this, sis.
