Solo Dating Challenge, Episode 3: Yebo Beach Haus

That Saturday, I woke up with very little expectations.
Considering how my Valentine’s Day went, I wasn’t in the mood to wrestle with the emotional roller coaster that sometimes comes with healing.
I wasn’t necessarily in a bad mood; my mind was just in go mode.
I had things to do and places to be.
After talking to my kids on the phone, I laid in bed for few more minutes, trying to decide whether I would get out of bed or sleep a little longer. It wasn’t even 8 AM yet, but eventually, I opted to get up and start my day.
And what a day it was lol.
At one point, my car got stuck in the mud. But not even 10 minutes into the ordeal, a Good Samaritan with the right kind of truck stopped to help me.
What are the odds?
Moments like these are always a friendly reminder that we have a Father in heaven who takes care of His children.
On top of that y’all, by the time I got home, I knew I was going to be at least an hour late.
So, I called the restaurant and pushed my reservation back an hour.
By then, I just decided to focus on what’s good. Otherwise, I would have spent the rest of the day frustrated and sad.
It took me a little over an hour to get ready, and let me tell you: I’m so glad I went on that solo date.
This was the best solo date I have been on so far. I spent just under $110 and it was so worth it.
I don’t have any deep lessons from this experience, except this: it is entirely possible to be out, surrounded by people and still have fun on your own.
When I walked into the restaurant, the setting was dark and romantic, but it was busy and loud. This did surprise me, because I expect a high end dining experience to be quieter.
Nonetheless, service was prompt and excellent. My waitress’ name was Effy. I highly recommend her. She was friendly, professional, and attentive.
There was a five to ten minute wait, and then I was seated. Another perk of solo dining: you’ll be seated faster, because you’re alone.
Anyways, I sat there at my little table, smiling to myself and people watching per usual. About 45 minutes into my experience, this lady I never met before asked to sit at my table because there was no more room at the bar.
She was obviously drunk and so sweet. We chatted about being single and enjoying our lives in single hood. It was a beautiful moment with a stranger. I think I want to experience that again. Meeting someone for a brief moment in time, having a human connection, and then moving on happily. Just thinking about my interaction with her still puts a smile on my face.
When it comes to food though, one thing about me you must know is that I’m always going to eat good. So of course, I got an appetizer, an entrée and dessert all pictured below. And everything was delicious.
My favorite part of the evening was how pretty I felt. I finally got to wear my infamous Sadie Mini Dress from Baby Boo Fashion and let me make it abundantly clear: I’ll be wearing little Sadie again.
For the first time in a very long time, I felt comfortable in my own skin, confident, and genuinely happy. My smile and excitement were not a performance.
I felt and looked like the princess that I know I am veeeeeeery deep down inside.
