Second solo date was at the Fox Theatre

The saga continues. In episode 2 of 24 Solo Dates in 12 Months, our main character found herself in Hell’s Kitchen, a Broadway Show at the Fox Theater!

Okay, let me stop playing.

On my second solo date for the year, I unexpectedly got a free ticket to the Broadway show Hell’s Kitchen at the Fox Theatre. The result of a series of not so coincidental coincidences.

Let me explain what I mean.

So, I met a woman named Vanessa on Tik Tok. A few weeks later, I posted an ill fitting coat I purchased in my local “Buy Nothing” group and I saw that the same woman commented on the post.

In an effort to be fair, I initially tried to do first come first serve, but the people were not responding. So, eventually, I just told myself to give it to her since I was familiar with her.

We coordinated and she came and picked up the coat. We chatted for a few minutes and found out that we both had a few things in common. It was a happy surprise and we exchanged numbers.

Fast forward to Saturday, January 10th around 11 a.m. I was driving to my weekend side gig when she texted me, explaining that a friend of hers had a ticket to Hell’s Kitchen and she could no longer go so she was giving it away to one lucky person.

Initially, I said I couldn’t go since I was on my way to work. Then, I thought about it. How often do you get a free ticket to a Broadway show? a FREE ticket?!

Long story short, I told her I would be able to go if it wasn’t too late to accept it. After a bit of coordination, I received the ticket and a parking pass!

I made a u-turn and went home to get ready. I was so excited and grateful.

Another hot date out of the blue? Count. Me. In!

It was a warm day, so I decided to wear the crochet maxi dress that I wore for my birthday dinner in 2025.

The show was at 2 p.m. I got there around 2:30 p.m. I felt like the belle of the ball when I entered the building, lol. When I was finally seated, I set my mind and heart to be in the moment and enjoy the show as much as possible.

The story follows a young lady who was in the process of discovering herself, love, and the meaning of life. It was well narrated, with an even better performance from the cast.

That day, I learned three things:

  1. Be Intentional. When you become intentional about your life, God has a way of bringing opportunities your way.
  2. Explore your interests. A solo date doesn’t have to be at a restaurant. It can be a show, a play, a cooking class… Essentially, my solo dates are about to get a whole lot more interesting.
  3. The world is your stage, so dress up. The concept of being overdressed for my solo dates will not be a thing for me. I love to get dressed up, so I’m going to dress up for every single one. It’s simply what I want to do and I will be unapologetic about this aspect of myself.

So, another date completed with a few lessons learned. I’m excited to see where this challenge takes me.

I’d love to hear from you! Have you ever had a solo adventure or an unexpected date that left you smiling? Share your story in the comments!
